Abstract:
A nitronyl nitroxide, 2-(2-benzimidazolyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazolidinyl-3-oxide-1-oxy, 1, is included in cucurbit[8]uril (CB8) and cucurbit[7]uril (CB7) as its hydrochloride to give water soluble complexes. At high temperature (>150 °C) in the solid state, these complexes are stable but the paramagnetic guest is irreversibly converted into 2-(2-benzimidazolyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazolidinyl-1-oxy, 2.
